Start-up Budget
As a professor you get a Professorship Start-up Budget on top of your ordinary budget - upon the appointment of your professorship or a promotion.
The Professorship Start-up Budget must be used within the following six years. Otherwise, the fund will expire. In justified exceptions, an extension to a maximum of eight years may be requested before the end of the term.
The Professorship Start-up Budget shall support you in the development or expansion of your professorship, in the sense of a basic initial funding for research-related expenditures (e.g. animal husbandry, equipment maintenance, costs for shared use of equipment, establishing national or international research networks).
In justified cases the Professorship Start-up Budget can be used to cover personnel costs. However, it must be applied for at the Vice President Faculty Affairs and Scientific Information.
Procurements of facilities/equipment requiring capitalization are charged to the Professorship Start-up Budget and settled via the investment fund.
