Staffing budget
The so-called staffing budget is based on a cantonal concept that ensures that financial resources (public taxes) may not be used to enhance the staffing level unlimitedly.
Third-party funded employments are not subject to the staffing budget.
The staffing budget therefore indicates the upper limit of UZH’s staffing level in terms of full time equivalent. Staff that is paid by the University Accounts always requires a financial and a staffing budget. The staffing budget includes the following categories: “Professorships”, “junior academic positions”, “academic associates” and the “administrative and technical staff”.
Staff paid by third party funding (Separate Accounts), apprentices and trainees as well as all temporary staff (interim positions of up to twelve months) is not subject to the rules of the staffing budget.
If the Faculty or Executive Board unit meets the staffing budget, but the staffing budget of your organizational unit does not cover your needs, you can apply in general for a budget exceeding with your dean or the responsible member of the Executive Board of the University.
