Third-party-funds
Funds by third parties for research and teaching, services or continuing education are managed as “projects”.
All third-party funded projects need to be fully cost-covering. Project owners bear the financial responsibility up to level 4 of the operating result (Betriebsergebnis, BE, 4), including the risk of any project losses.
Services as well as continuing education must be calculated and offered in line with the market (project calculation). For this, they are usually managed as single projects.
However, if
- several funds have the same designated purpose and
- there is no need of any report towards the funding party and
- the total income is < CHF 100’000,
a so-called collective project can be opened to manage the different funds.
On revenues from services or continuing education we charge an overhead of 5, 10 (20) % respectively to cover the infrastructural costs of UZH.
We highly recommend to plan, budget and monitor not only the ordinary budget but also your third party funds and to make use of our systems and tools (third party budgeting).
Please note that for every new project you need to submit some kind of documentation.
